Decisions

today is a pretty random day. I've been slightly overwhelmed and have a bunch on my mind.

First of, I have realized im not a phone person. Not even close. If you call me and your number isn't saved in my phone I won't answer. Leaving a voice mail wont help either. I have been  known to wait till there are 10 messages before I finally go threw them. Your better off calling my husband to get a hold of me. That or text me.

I despise the heat. I can tolerate 70-80 degree weather. Anything about 90 though and I am a hot mess. I get incredibly grumpy. I get headaches. My hands and ankles swell like I am 8 months pregnant!

I need someone to watch my son, for like 24 hours so I can finally fully clean my whole house and finish unpacking all my boxes. And thats no where close to our weed problem out side.

Our roof needs help. We had a huge windstorm a few weeks ago. Our neighborhood is incredibly windy and we have a good 2-3 foot patch where ALL the shingles came off. Crap.

There is a possible position opening up at work. It would be an amazing opportunity. The pay would be incredible. I would get to quit my serving job and have every Sunday off (and I would work every 3rd sat) instead of working seven days a week like I am no. But....its full time. So instead of my 24ish hours a week, I would work 40-45. UGH....this decision is incredibly hard. I don't know if I can leave mister Hudson that long, and I don't know how passionate I am at my job. I love it, but I don't think its my calling.

Infact, I have no idea what my calling is. I would love to be able to stay home and raise our family, but sadly that isn't in the cards for us right now. I have this crazy idea to start up my own business but no clue where to start.

Im slightly addicted to instagram. Best. Thing. Ever.

Hudson is potty training! Ill do an official post later. He was showing almost every sign in the book, and the past couple days as long as where home he will stay dry! (well 92% of the time ;))

I need to loose some serious weight. SERIOUSLY. I refuse to call it baby weight since Hudson is now a 16 month old toddler. Im way past due. Any good tips??

I don't get out enough. I need some girl time.

My hair is driving me nuts. I chopped it off after I had Hudson, worst decision ever. I think  postpartum women should not be able to make any kind of decison with out a third party approval. We make bad decisions.

I found this one....and how I wish...it kinda makes me sad. Hopefully some day.

The Death of Pretty

A blog I follow [natashala] posted this on her blog the other day. The words couldn't be more true. Oh how I long for a world for my kids where women don't strive to be sex symbols. Before I start rambling, I will let the article do all the talking.

The Death of Pretty

Pat Archbold

This post is intended as a lament of sorts, a lament for something in the culture that is dying and may never been seen again.
Pretty, pretty is dying.

People will define pretty differently.  For the purposes of this piece, I define pretty as a mutually enriching balanced combination of beauty and projected innocence.

Once upon a time, women wanted to project an innocence.  I am not idealizing another age and I have no illusions about the virtues of our grandparents, concupiscence being what it is.  But some things were different in the back then.  First and foremost, many beautiful women, whatever the state of their souls, still wished to project a public innocence and virtue.  And that combination of beauty and innocence is what I define as pretty.

By nature, generally when men see this combination in women it brings out their better qualities, their best in fact.  That special combination of beauty and innocence, the pretty inspires men to protect and defend it.

Young women today do not seem to aspire to pretty, they prefer to be regarded as hot. Hotness is something altogether different.  When women want to be hot instead of pretty, they must view themselves in a certain way and consequently men view them differently as well.

As I said, pretty inspires men’s nobler instincts to protect and defend.  Pretty is cherished. Hotness, on the other hand, is a commodity.  Its value is temporary and must be used.  It is a consumable.

Nowhere is this pretty deficit more obvious than in our “stars,” the people we elevate as the “ideal.”  The stars of the fifties surely suffered from the same sin as do stars of today.  Stars of the fifties weren’t ideal but they pursued a public ideal different from today.

The merits of hotness over pretty is easy enough to understand, they made an entire musical about it.  Who can forget how pretty Olivia Newton John was at the beginning of Grease.
Beautiful and innocent.  But her desire to be desired leads her to throw away all that is valuable in herself in the vain hopes of getting the attention of a boy.  In the process, she destroys her innocence and thus destroys the pretty.  What we are left with is hotness.

Hotness is a consumable.  A consumable that consumes as it is consumed but brings no warmth.
Most girls don’t want to be pretty anymore even if they understand what it is.  It is ironic that 40 years of women’s liberation has succeeded only in turning women into a commodity.  Something to be used up and thrown out.

Of course men play a role in this as well, but women should know better and they once did.  Once upon a time you would hear girls talk about kind of women men date and the kind they marry.  You don’t hear things like that anymore.

But here is the real truth.  Most men prefer pretty over hot.  Even back in 6th grade I hated the “hot” Olivia Newton John and felt sorry for her that she had to debase herself in such a way.  Still do.

Our problem is that society doesn’t value innocence anymore, real or imagined.  Nobody aspires to innocence anymore.  Nobody wants to be thought of as innocent, the good girl.  They want to be hot, not pretty.

I still hope that pretty comes back, although I think it not likely any time soon.  For every Taylor Swift, there are a hundred Megan Foxs, or Lindsay Lohans, or Miley Cyruses etc.
Girls, please, bring back the pretty. [end]

Lets all band together and promise to raise our daughters to be pretty & smart, and raise our boys to be chivalrous & smart! I think this is a goal we would all love to see.

House DrAmA!

*Pre warning, this post is a bit of a vent, and thanks in advance for allowing me
to let out these frustrations*

So far the new year has been somewhat UN-eventful.

Ok, I take that back. It has been eventful just not events I find fun.

House DrAmA!

Ugh, buying a house has seriously been one of the WORST experiences of my life. Don't get me wrong, our real estate agent is awesome. And our mortgage officer is pretty great. Its the selling agent, and selling bank I could punch in the face.

We are trying to buy a short sell. Which, if you have had a chance to look at the Utah housing market, 97% of all houses are short sales, ESPECIALLY in our price range. I talked with a few people about short sales before we started the whole process. Most said you can expect to wait 30-60 days to hear back from the bank, and another 30 days to close. It was a bit of a wait, but worth it for the perfect house.[in case you don't know, a short sell means the sellers are selling the house 'short' of what is owed so the bank has to approve the shortage] The sellers agent on the house we are trying to buy kept promoting "short sell process will go quick" "have answer from bank by 30 days" Blah, Blah Blah. We knew not to expect 30 days, but we were somewhat hopeful. What we didn't expect was the sellers agent to obviously not care about selling the house. I feel bad for the people trying to sell it. It took over a week just to get the SELLERS to approve our offer. She was waiting for signatures. If I was the selling agent I would be driving myself to go get signatures. Just saying. Then to bore you from to many details, It was just one thing after another. Missing signature, Worded wrong, Missing document, etc. It was like we were taking 1 step forward, then 2 steps back. And this was all a mixture from the agent and bank. It took just over 3 months to get an approval from the selling bank. Then we had to re-submit all of our financials since we would hit the 120 max and had to re-qualify for our house. Then we submitted our earnest money. We did our inspection. Next step was just the appraisal. Well before our mortgage officer could order the appraisal turns out there is ANOTHER missing document. We have now been waiting over a week to get this stupid page from them, we have had to put in for an extension on our supposed closing date, since we have done everything in our power, and its the bank we are waiting on. Assuming everything goes according to plan we are now scheduled to close the day after Hudson's birthday.

I'm so upset, all I wanted was to have Hudson's birthday at our new home. Now I don't know if I should wait....because the way things are going we might not get in till march OR if I just have his birthday party at his grandparents. Which I would really rather not.  Lets be honest, I really wanted our first Christmas in our own house, that wasn't even close to happening. UGH...I have been tempted to walk away from this house, many many mannnnyyyy times. I have just invested to much time, money, energy and emotions to give up now. Please cross those fingers for me that they get rolling and we can have our own space soon!

Oh, and don't worry. As soon as this whole process is over I will be giving a very  nasty review to both the selling agent, and the selling bank. This is beyond ridiculous.

My 2012 Resolutions

It's 9:14 here. Baby is in bed sleeping, Hubby is watching the Jazz game & im blogging. Yup, sounds like any other night here in our casa. But tonight isn't just any night, it is New Years Eve! Taking a look back [check earlier post for official look back] I can't believe its almost over.Just 2 hours and 46 minutes to be exact. This year started out so slow, then on January 24th our little man joined the world and then it's like life decided to go into "hyper-active-hyper-drive...and uhh astro-uh-turf" [sorry...I just couldn't help myself, also I hope someone besides me knows what im talking about ;)]. So like any other new years, I have some resolutions. But this year is different. I am actually planning them, writing them down, and am DETERMINED to follow through. Usually I just through out some random resolution when someone asks and it lasts all but a day, all this planning has to mean something this year right? With a house [hopefully...everyone is on vacation this last week or two and its been a pain and mess to get anything done...but if all goes well, mid January we can move in!] in the works, I really need to do some planning and goal making. You have to 'ink' it to think it, So with out further adieu my resolutions for 2012.

First off, and probably the most important is be the best momma to my son I can possibly be! Spend as much time as possible with him, teach him new things, make him laugh, and make sure he is extra loved and spoiled.

I want to get healthier. A life style change as one would put it. My major goal is to loose the baby weight. I want to be down to my wedding weight by our anniversary. Doing the math, that's about 6 pounds a month I would need to loose. I think this is doable & attainable. I want to stop with all soda, and majority of the juice I drink. Strictly water. I need to start exercising again & stretching every day. No gym membership, they don't motivate me. It actually has the opposite effect since I have no clue what I am doing. So just some simple routines at home, or borrowing the in laws elliptical.  I hope these mini goals will help me attain my main goal.

I need to get better at taking my camera with me. Don't get me wrong, I take lots of pictures but I miss out on some fun outings I wish I would have pictures of.

I want to floss EVERY DAY. I floss, just not every day like I tell my dentist I do ;)

I want to cut back on my TV/Internet time. As much as I love my blogs, FB, pinterest, etc I need to invest more time in real life [yes I realize I am blogging as I type this].

I WILL be more organized. I'm the farthest person from organization you have probable ever met. And OCD is something I actually WISH I had. For next year I already have plans for a family planner and Budget binder.

I want to spend more time with my friends! This year has been a tough one on my friendships. Between having a baby and then moving into Tanners parents and working two jobs it has been hard. I plan to set aside time just for my ladies! And actually having a place of our own to invite friends over to will be a blessing.

We are going to start budgeting and following most of Dave Ramsey's money make over. We have been reading his books and I am super excited to start this one. It's going to be hard, and take discipline with our money, but we can do it!

I want to read atleast one book every month.

I need to take my dog on more walks.

I want to set aside special date nights for me and the Hubby. The year we had has been a tough one on our marriage, as it would any ones marriage. We need more time as a couple, just going out and enjoying being together.

ok, I think I got them all. Now that I have put this out there Im giving you all a special job. You are now going to be held responsible. If I ever mention giving up any of these please remind me of this post. It's ok to fall of your horse, as long as you get back on and keep riding!

Happy New Year Everyone! I hope 2012 brings you all kinds of joy and memories!

Christmas, Houses & Parties OH MY!

So, December is one heck of a crazy month here in our casa!

My manager is off the rest of the year, so I've had to work a mixture of opening and closing shifts which throw me off so bad!

Were trying to get everything ready for Hudson's first Christmas, and for our family Christmas party this weekend.

Then there is the house, I'm nervous to say anything since it isn't a done deal but im so excited I just had to share! We put our offer in on SEPTEMBER 13TH!! and its a short sale, so we have been waiting. And waiting, and waiting. [also this is the 3rd house we have offered on] Then finally a few days ago we heard the almost good news. They have verbally accepted our offer! They are giving us a little less in closing costs then we asked for, so we had to sign an addendum and were just waiting to get the contract back to send to our loan officer. We will be doing an inspection next week. So please please please keep your fingers crossed for us! I love my in laws, and I am so grateful for them to let us stay with them to save up and buy a house. But I think it's time we have our own space again & get back into our own little families routine. If everything goes good we should be able to close mid January. So we will have our very own home for Hudson's first birthday! YAY!

We also have had a few Christmas parties. We had Tanner's side of the family party. His mom has pictures on her camera I need to steal from her! & then we had Tanners work party. That was so fun to get out with no kids and have some adult conversation! I did manage to get one pretty good picture of the two of us, even with protests from the Hubby.

Tomorrow we have my family Christmas party. & were wrapping TON of presents for our game. I'll have to stick my camera in my bag tonight so I don't forget!

& I have one last thing to buy then I will be ALL DONE Christmas shopping. & everything is wrapped. I would like to say I am on top of things, but I still have a billion cards & presents to mail out. So I'm slacking in that department. It is a good thing our cards say merry Christmas & happy new year! :D

2011 has been a great year! IT has just flown by though. I can't believe Christmas is in 8...practically 7 days!

I need a favor......pretty please?

So, in case I haven't mentioned it yet. Hudson is now in the double digits!!! yup...10 whole months old. He actually turned 10 months old on Thanksgiving. I'm just a little behind and need to do his 10 month photo shoot & 10 month post. I promise Ill get that done by the end of this week!

Ok, on to that favor I need from you, and if you could pass it along to others to vote as well that would be awesome & I would love you forever. My Aunts sister-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer within 6 months of her sister passing away from breast cancer. Right now she is doing chemo, and doing well. Were all hoping for the best. Her husband has entered a contest with OC TANNER jewelery to win her a diamond ring. She is currently in 2nd place and needs all the votes she can get!! Its only open for voting for a couple more days and its soooo easy to vote. Click the link below and it will take you to OCTANNER's facebook page. All you have to do is click to like their fb page & then right there should be the top four finalists and you just have to click like under her story (Karen & Danny). Its super easy and would mean so much to me!!

click here to vote for karen & danny!!!

& in other news...I wanted to share a few more of our family pictures!! through the window photography did an amazing job. We still don't have the full finished CD, but Bethany is one of my best friends so she sent me a few more ;)

I am blank because....

This post has been poppin its head around 'blogland' for a while now & I feel like joining in the fun!

I'm weird because...
I hate any and all condiments [except BBQ sauce]
I am a stickler to expiration dates
I prefer to sleep with sheets over blankets
I hate Styrofoam. Even just typing the word made me cringe
I can't sing, but I put on a show in my car
I have never flipped anyone off, I find it ugly
I spray the shower walls and floor with water before I step in, to check for spiders
If I could I would live off of mac&cheese

I'm a bad friend because...
After becoming a mom & working I don't have much time to go out
I sometimes forget to text or call back
I never ever check my voice mails

I'm a good friend because...
I always have time to listen to a friend in need
I cherish all my friends, they are my family
I love to be silly & have a good time
My friends kids are my nieces and nephews, and I love to spoil them
I rarely every break plans to go out!

I'm sad because...
Me and the Hubs both are working 2 jobs right now
We haven't heard back on our house we put an offer in
I tend to dwell on the small things that get me down
There a few friends that I know longer keep in contact with, and badly wish we still did
Hudson will be 1 in just under 2 months, he is growing way to fast

I'm happy because...
I have a happy healthy loving family
I only have to work part time, so I at least get mornings with my little man
That me and the hubs are in a position to try to buy our first home
That Hudson at least loves to snuggle with me when he is going to bed
That Hudson now blows kisses. Cutest thing in the world

I'm excited for...
Holiday season, and celebrating all of Hudson's firsts
Making our first family Christmas card
Seeing all my family at holiday parties
Tanners grandmas shrimp night! yum
Putting up our tree with all of our new decorations

What If

So, I had an awesome blog planned (we finger painted pumpkins!!) However, I ended up staying this evening at my parents house so all my blog ideas/pictures are at my house. So I thought I would do fail proof post. HA The "what if" post....enjoy

Fill in the blanks....
If I were to get pregnant again...Honestly I'd be ecstatic. Freaked cuz we aren't trying, but I can't wait to have more kiddies!
If I could have any job in the world...I would love more then anything to be a full time momma/house wife. I swear I should have grown up in the fiftys ;)
If I had a day to myself...clean! and rest...50/50
If I could get married all over again...I might change a few minor details. Asked a certain guest to not show up ;) There are lots of new wedding ideas out there I would have loved to have had. But I loved my wedding. There isn't much I would change.
If I could live anywhere in the US...If I ever dared leave my family that is...lol I would love a huge house out in the country. With a wrap around porch, huge yard for the kids and dogs. A tree swing and a pond out back. With in 1 hour drive from a beach. But secluded and small town. Does this even exist? lol
If my boy would have been girl they would have been named...Delanie or Breckon :) There is still hope, I will have a girl one day!
If I could have any talent in the world....To be able to sing. My hubby got all/any musical talent in our family lol. Poor Huddy Buddy has to listen to me sing all the time in the car.
If you met me in real life...you would love me!
If I could go back to school and get a different degree...I would do something fun! something to do with mythology.
If money was no object...I would be one happy momma & wife.
If I could meet one celebrity, it would be....hmm..only one?? britney spears for sure! I love her.
If I could shop at only one store the rest of my life...Target. Hands down.
If we were to get another pet it would be...another puppy.
If I could go on a trip right now...it would be somewhere warm w/ turquoise water.
If I had to choose between a house cleaner and a personal chef...Personal Chef. Never have to cook again, have perfect yummy healthy food? I can do launder for that.
If I had the option of plastic surgery...probably not. Unless medically needed.

8 week body restart detox and cleanse

So things have not been ok since Hudson was born. Not horrible by any means, just not great with me and my body.

Not only did I gain a ridiculous amount of weight, I can't loose any of it. & Since I had Hudson my body just does not feel right. I'm way more tired then I ever used to be, I have been getting really dizzy and light headed. I have no energy. And I know alot of these symptoms can come from just the lack of sleep as a new mom, but it got worse not better as Hudson got older.

I went and got a big ol' blood test done, and all my levels came back pretty normal. Except for my vitamin D was very low & my cholesterol levels were on the low side. Which is great for the bad kind, but not so great cuz my good cholesterol was low too.

I'm now on a Vitamin D supplement and Vitamin B for some energy. The doctors office I go to I love! They focus more on the cause of your problem, not just treating your symptoms. They also promote going a more natural way then with prescriptions. I love this factor alot! I think you need a healthy balance between natural and western medical. If I broke a bone for example, I would go to the E.R. but if I have low energy I'm gonna go talk to someone about getting my body back in check.

My doctor asked me how aggressive I wanted to be at feeling normal again. I said at this point I need to do something for me. I wanna loose this baby weight, I wanna have energy again, I wanna feel normal again. So im doing a total body restart 8 week detox and cleanse.

I'm really nervous and hope I can do this, but something needs to be done. The first 2 weeks are supposed to be the hardest. I can only have: chicken, turkey, fish, any veggies (except potato and corn), any nuts (except peanuts), and can drink water, almond milk, coconut milk, green tea, or can make my own veggie juices. Then the next 2 weeks you add in fruit, then the next 2 you add in beans, then the last 2 you add in whole grains. & on top of all that, I'm taking some more supplements. So that means no red meats, dairy, carbs or sugar for at least 8 weeks! (why did I ever agree to this?)
Tanner refuses to do it with me, since this will go over Thanksgiving. But he has promised to be 100% supportive and he will eat my healthy dinner meals :D

Now, I will try my best to do good with this, but my doctor even said to be perfect you would need to go totally raw-vegan which I could/would never do. When she does this cleanse she says once in a while she might "cheat". As in, she might have some BBQ sauce or an Asian sauce in a stir fry that has some sugar in it, or something of the sort. I know that I'll be cutting out absolutely everything else, so it's ok in very very little moderation.

This weekend will include lots of taco bell and mac & cheese for sure! (my all time favorites) Then, Monday is the big day! Be sure to check in and see how i'm doing! I'll be sure to post some updates throughout.

Also, I have lost my camera cord :( I had some adorable pics of Hudson and his cousin Ella, but those will have to wait till I clean this messy room!

Please & Thank You

Is it really that hard?

I hate that we live in a time where manners are becoming obsolete. I feel so bad for our children, and they world they will grow up in if things don't change.

At subway they have a sign that reads "I'm sorry, but if your on your phone we are unable to assist you". I Freaking love it. I wish my work would let me post this. At {one of} my job, im a teller at a bank. People can be so inconsiderate. I hate it. A good majority of people come to the drive thru on their phones, and completely ignore you. So I try talking to them and it's like im talking to the air. Or better yet, they windows are rolled up so I can't even say hi to the air. Oh, and the best yet is when they get mad at you for trying to interact with them because god forbid I do my job and say hi. ugh.

Then, at my other job...oh my other job {waitress}. I could seriously write a book on my stories. The thing that erks me the most at this job are parents. Now, before I say this I completely understand that sometimes children throw fits and there is nothing you can do, they are just in a mood. I get it. I'm talking about those parents who let their kids run wild in a restaurant where I'm walking around with heavy trays of food, and hot skillets. Those parents who get so upset and rude towards their children for their lack in discipline. If your sitting at your table and trying to order and your child is jumping up and down on the seats and won't sit still, well it's because you let them at home so that's what they know to be ok & when you get upset at your child for not saying please/thank you, well guess what. You didn't say it either. Children learn by example. Obviously you only make them say this when someone else is around. And believe me, I've seen enough families to know if you are polite, quiet, well mannered mommy and daddy, 9 out of 10 times so are your children.

One thing that terrifies me are the way children behave. My sister is in 5th grade and when I go pick her up after school im appalled. The things kids say and talk about are worse then things I did or said in High School! I hate more then anything in the world when people let their children swear at a young age. Sure its funny when your 2 1/2 year old blurts out the sh** word, but laugh behind their backs! If you let them see it, they will keep doing it thinking you like it because it makes you laugh. Then they grow up thinking its ok. It is not ok. Little kids should not ever use this language. Kids are to innocent, and they should think the world is magical and that they can do/be anything they want. Let life be fun and happy. I've seen to many kids whose parents never stopped them from swearing and it became a problem later in life. I don't think those kids ever stopped swearing. & along with swearing, flipping people off. I personally think it is ugly. I have honestly only ever flipped one person off, and believed me he deserved it.

Chivalry, Where oh where did it go?? I was leaving the store the other day, with Hudson in one arm, and a diaper bag and store bag in the other. Some guy just rushes right by me and pushes the door open and it shuts right on my face. I politely called after him "thank you". but I don't think he heard me.

Older gentleman are usually the sweetest and most polite people I meet. I love it. And its all in how they are raised. Last year, I was extremely pregnant and driving to work after a snow storm. I was driving a back road by bangeter. I was going about 15, my tire hit an ice patch and did a 360 across the street to the other side. I ended up in a ditch and couldn't get a out. I think about 20-25 cars passed me. {thanks for the help guys} Then finally this sweet older gentleman and what I assume to be his grandson pulled over and came and pushed my car out. They just tipped their cowboy hats and were on their way. I will be forever greatfull. This gives me some hope for our future. I just wanted to go thank their mommas for raising wonderful men!

Thank you mom, for teaching me manners. Making me say my please's and thank you's. Showing common courtesy to people. & loving your family. You better believe I will teach Hudson how to be a great young man!
